Bayonne RFC - Men's Head Coach
posted August 6, 2018

Bayonne Bombers RFC (Men's Division 2) are looking to immediately fill its head coach vacancy.  If interested or if you know someone that may be qualified, please contact bayonnerugbyfc@gmail.com and michael.crafton@gmail.com.

Club Info: Bayonne has competed in MetNY/Empire for almost 30 years, primarily at the Division 2 level.  The club made the Empire D2 playoffs the past 2 years, losing in the first round both years.Historically and currently, the club has sought to play good competitive rugby but has proudly encouraged and exemplified strong social aspects as well. The club has a highly stable administrative structure with a long-standing Chairman and President to help the Head Coach from an admin perspective.A few years ago, Bayonne created a youth flag program, which has grown tremendously and is very well run by a group of Old Boys (the Men's head coach will not have any mandatory responsibilities with respect to the youth program).

Coaching Search Details: We are looking for a new head coach to run twice weekly practices (the club is open to an arrangement other than Tues/Thurs if necessary) who will also be able to attend matches on Saturdays. The club has historically paid the head coach and we intend to offer compensation going forward. The club does not have an absolute mandatory requirement for prior coaching experience, but is looking for an individual who can handle post-collegiate men with a fairly broad range of rugby IQ and skills. The club runs a carpool from the Hoboken PATH station for every training and match day (and sometimes at various Jersey City stops).Training is generally either in Jersey City (near Liberty National) or in Bayonne at 16th Street Park.Bayonne fields one competitive side (D2) but players have committed to fielding a regular "B side" for the Fall season in order to ensure that guys outside of the top 23 get adequate match time weekly.
